Common Starboard failures and code-backed fixes.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |

| Nothing posts | enabled is false, channelId is empty, or the threshold has not been reached. | Enable Starboard, select a channel, and confirm the live reaction count is at least minStars. |
| Save fails with “Select a starboard channel before enabling.” | The API requires a channel when enabled is true. | Select a text channel before saving the enabled state. |
| Custom emoji does not count | The saved emoji does not match the full emoji mention or ID. | Paste the full custom emoji mention or the bare emoji ID into the emoji field. |
| Board post disappeared and did not return immediately | Recreation only happens on the next matching reaction sync. | Add or remove the configured reaction on the source message to trigger a sync. |
| Embed has no image | Only the first attachment whose content type starts with image/ is used. | Attach an actual image file to the original message. Links inside text are not promoted to images. |
Quiet failures
The starboard sync catches errors and logs a warning. Permission or fetch problems may not create a visible Discord error for members.
