Setup

Enable audit logs from the dashboard.

Open /dashboard/<guildId>/logging. The page shows the Audit Logging panel from the shared settings component. Select a Log Channel, click the event toggles you want, and save. The API writes to LogConfig through /api/settings/[guildId].

  1. 1

Create or choose a log channel

Use a staff-only text channel if logs may contain deleted or edited message content.

  2. 2

    Select the channel

Choose it in the Log Channel picker. The API checks that the channel belongs to the same server.

  3. 3

    Turn on event toggles

Available toggles are Message Delete, Message Edit, Member Join, Member Leave, Mod Actions, and Voice Activity.

  4. 4

    Save settings

Click Save. If no LogConfig exists, the API creates one with unspecified toggles defaulting to false.

  5. 5

    Wait for cache if needed

The bot caches log config for 5 minutes per guild. New settings may take up to that long to affect live events.

Required bot permissions

The bot needs View Channel and Send Messages in the log channel. It also needs enough gateway/cache data to see message authors and content; partial or uncached messages may log as unknown or “not cached”.

The settings API also validates Discord webhook URLs when webhookUrl is sent: only https://discord.com/api/webhooks/..., discordapp.com, ptb, or canary forms are accepted. Stored webhook URLs are encrypted and returned to the dashboard as ***, never raw ciphertext.
