Common Auto Roles failures and fixes.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Join role is not granted | The member is a bot, the role is missing, already present, or above the bot's highest role. | Test with a human member and move PaulCLI's role above the join role. |
| Adding a join role says it already exists | A JoinAutoRole row already has that guild and role. | Remove the existing pill first, or choose a different role. |
| Publishing says “Bot token is not configured on the server.” | DISCORD_TOKEN is missing for the dashboard API server. | Configure the bot token in the dashboard runtime environment. |
| Discord rejected the panel message | The bot cannot post in the selected channel or Discord rejected the component payload. | Check View Channel and Send Messages, and keep labels/emoji within limits. |
| Button says the role no longer exists | The linked role was deleted after the panel was published. | Edit the panel and choose an existing role, or delete the stale button. |
| Button says the bot cannot manage the role | The role is at or above PaulCLI's highest role. | Move PaulCLI's role above every self-assignable role. |
Deleted live messages
If the original panel message is deleted, PATCH ignores a Discord 404 and still updates stored panel data. Publish a new panel if members need a fresh clickable message.
